HARRISON, N.J. — Atlanta United wraps up its 2026 Major League Soccer season Saturday, Nov. 7, on the road against Red Bull New York in Harrison, N.J., with a 4 p.m. ET Decision Day kickoff and no postseason spot on the line for either club.
The trip has been a tough one for Atlanta. The 5-Stripes have never won at Red Bull New York and are winless in eight road matches against their Eastern Conference rival. Atlanta comes in off a 3-1 home win over Toronto FC on Sunday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, its last home match of the year, a result captain Miguel Almirón said the club owed its fans.
Head coach Tata Martino said Thursday that the group has kept its attention on the future and that it needs that mindset to believe in what is coming in 2027. He said the link between designated players Almirón and Alexey Miranchuk keeps getting smoother as the team finds its passing lanes. The two combined on the opening goal against Toronto.
Almirón has 16 goal contributions this season, 13 of them since the World Cup break. On Thursday, the club gave him its 2026 Media Ambassador Award, which Gallagher presents and media members vote on, taking over the honor from Brad Guzan. Almirón pledged the $5,000 award, plus $10,000 the club added to match it, to Agape Youth and Family Center, a nonprofit that works with children and families in underserved communities.
New York, coached by Michael Bradley, was eliminated from playoff contention for a second straight season after a 3-2 loss at Nashville SC on Oct. 31. The Red Bulls lean on young talent, led by 18-year-old forward Julian Hall, whose 13 goals tie the MLS record for a teenager in one regular season, so one more goal against Atlanta would give him the mark alone.
