She is the founder and executive director of ThriveHER, Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting women and families impacted by domestic violence, trauma, and systemic inequities. A second-generation survivor of abuse, Dr. McKinzie has spent the past 24 years turning her pain into purpose. Her lived experience fuels her passion for advocacy and her unwavering commitment to breaking cycles of generational trauma. In recognition of her extraordinary contributions to family and community, she was honored as the 2025 American Mother of the Year for Georgia.
