ATLANTA, Ga. — The Atlanta Braves season is over. The Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Braves 4-1 Wednesday night in Game 4 of the National League Division Series at Truist Park, winning the best-of-five series three games to one and moving on to the National League Championship Series.
Los Angeles took both games in Atlanta after splitting the first two at home. The decisive swing came in the seventh inning of a 1-1 game, when Andy Pages lined a two-run single up the middle off reliever Robert Suarez with the bases loaded and two outs. Teoscar Hernandez and pinch-runner Tommy Edman scored to give the Dodgers a 3-1 lead.
That rally was built on Braves walks. Reliever Didier Fuentes entered after Tyler Mahle left the game and walked pinch-hitter Josue De Paula and Kyle Tucker to load the bases. Fuentes threw just four strikes in 14 pitches before he was lifted. Max Muncy added a solo shot off Raisel Iglesias in the ninth for the final margin.
Atlanta struck first. Michael Harris II led off the bottom of the first with a single, stole second and later scored from third on a wild pitch by Dodgers starter Tyler Glasnow. Harris finished with two of Atlanta’s three hits. The Dodgers tied it in the second with help from two Braves errors, a throwing error by catcher Sean Murphy and a dropped pop fly by shortstop Mauricio Dubon that let Shohei Ohtani score.
Mahle allowed two runs – one earned – in 6 1/3 innings. Glasnow walked five but gave up just one hit in 4 2/3 innings, and Glasnow threw 44 of his 78 pitches for strikes. Four Dodgers relievers held Atlanta scoreless the rest of the way, with Edgardo Henriquez credited with the win and Edwin Diaz closing out the ninth.
The loss capped a frustrating series at the plate for Atlanta. The Braves drew 18 walks in the series, and none scored, and Atlanta hitters finished 1 for 23 with runners in scoring position.
For metro Atlanta fans, the home stretch of the postseason played out at Truist Park, located in Cobb County, outside Atlanta city limits. Los Angeles now faces Milwaukee in the NLCS, and Game 1 is Sunday in Milwaukee.
