ATLANTA, Ga. — Federal prosecutors say 20 Atlanta-area defendants, including five alleged members of the GoodFellas street gang, have been indicted in a case tied to the theft of nearly 1,500 firearms from shipping facilities in Conley and Macon.
U.S. Attorney Theodore S. Hertzberg and ATF leaders outlined the case Tuesday at the ATF Atlanta Field Division. Prosecutors put the thefts at 1,486 guns: 724 Glock pistols from a Conley facility in late November 2025, plus two Macon burglaries in January 2026 that took another 762 firearms.
Undercover ATF agents bought stolen pistols from alleged gang members and associates in December 2025 and January 2026, prosecutors said. On May 13, search warrants at 12 Atlanta-area locations recovered about 24 kilograms of methamphetamine, 22 kilograms of marijuana, cocaine base, fentanyl, a pill press and more guns, according to the federal briefing.
A federal grand jury returned six indictments on Sept. 23. Agents arrested additional defendants on Sept. 25 and Oct. 6; seven people were already in local custody awaiting federal appearances. Two defendants — Samuel Harris and Demontra Williams — remained at large when the case was announced.
ATF Atlanta Special Agent in Charge Benjamin Gibbons said the stolen weapons are tied to real crimes and that interrupting the supply prevents real victims. Hertzberg said the Atlanta-based GoodFellas network funds itself through drugs, robbery, carjacking, fraud and firearms trafficking, and uses violence to protect territory. The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office and several state partners assisted, prosecutors said. The charges are allegations; defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
