ATLANTA, Ga. — Georgia Tech fell behind early for the second week in a row and never recovered, as Louisville rolled to a 44-17 win Saturday night at Bobby Dodd Stadium in Atlanta.
The Cardinals raced to a 27-3 lead and had outgained the Yellow Jackets 306 yards to 66 before Tech’s last drive of the first half. Louisville quarterback Lincoln Kienholz hit Tre Richardson and TreyShun Hurry for scores before halftime, going 17 of 25 for 182 yards and adding 81 on the ground. Richardson also scored on a 52-yard end around, and Isaac Brown ran 11 yards for his 10th touchdown of the year.
Coach Brent Key rotated quarterbacks by drive in the first half, starting Alberto Mendoza and then going back and forth with Grady Adamson. Each threw a touchdown pass. Isaiah Fuhrmann caught a 10-yarder in the second quarter and tight end Chris Corbo an 11-yarder in the fourth, the first scoring catches at Georgia Tech for both transfers.
Tech played Louisville close after the break, outgaining the Cardinals 284-150 over the final 30:56, but the ground game again let the Jackets down. Louisville ran for 251 yards at 7.0 a carry while Tech managed 109. Justice Haynes led Tech with 87 rushing yards, and Taje McCoy and Tae Harris had eight tackles each.
Tech dropped to 2-7, 1-5 in ACC play, and its four-game skid is its longest since 2021. It also rules out a bowl game, something Tech had reached in each of Key’s previous full seasons. Louisville improved to 6-3 and locked up bowl eligibility. The Jackets visit Clemson next Saturday at 12:30 p.m.
