PITTSBURGH, Pa. — Georgia Tech heads north on Halloween looking for anything that can turn its season around. The Yellow Jackets, 2-5 overall and 1-3 in the Atlantic Coast Conference, visit Pitt at Acrisure Stadium on Saturday with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m. in a nationally televised prime-time slot.

Both teams arrive on losing streaks. Tech has dropped two in a row, the latest a 49-27 home loss to Boston College. Pitt opened 5-0 but has lost three straight, including a 52-23 defeat at top-ranked Miami, and sits at 5-3 and 2-3 in league play.

The matchup up front looks rough for the Jackets. Pitt allows just 65 rushing yards per game, second-best in the country, and has held opponents to an average of 11 points in five home games. Tech runs for about 123 yards a game, led by Justice Haynes with 515, while its own run defense gives up more than 210 yards per game.

The opening may be through the air. Pitt has given up about 266 passing yards a game, and Tech quarterback Alberto Mendoza is completing a little over 71% of his passes. Ball security is a concern for the Jackets, who sit at minus-6 in turnover margin.

History favors the home side. Pitt leads the series 12-6, has won seven of the last nine meetings and beat a ranked Tech team 42-28 last season. A Pitt win would also make the Panthers bowl eligible.

After Pittsburgh, the Jackets return to their own campus. Louisville visits Bobby Dodd Stadium for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff on Nov. 7 that will air on ACC Network. It will be the Jackets’ fifth night game this season, their most since 2023. The series with Louisville is tied 2-2, and Tech won the only previous meeting in Atlanta, 46-27, in 2020.
