ATHENS, Ga. — Georgia women’s soccer closed its regular season home schedule with a 2-0 win over Missouri on Sunday evening at Turner Soccer Complex, its third straight victory at home.
The Bulldogs had the better of the first half, outshooting the Tigers 10-1, but Missouri goalkeeper Riley Wilkerson kept it scoreless with four saves before the break, including two sharp stops about two minutes apart. She made another diving save on a volley in the 47th minute.
Georgia finally broke through in the 67th minute. Graduate forward Emma Petterson took a pass outside the penalty area, worked free of a defender and drove a shot into the top of the net.
The insurance goal came in the 82nd minute. Sophomore Mya Townes carried the ball into the box and sent a low cross toward fifth-year midfielder Sage Glover, whose touch deflected off a Missouri defender and into the goal.
Missouri pushed harder after halftime and managed eight shots in the second half, but graduate goalkeeper Jordan Brown turned away both shots she faced on target, playing her last regular season game on her home field. The clean sheet bookended her career neatly, since her college debut back in October 2022 came in a 2-0 Georgia win over the same Missouri program.
Over 90 minutes, Georgia finished with a 17-9 advantage in shots, 7-2 on target, and 12-3 in corner kicks. Wilkerson ended with six saves, matching her season high.
The win moves Georgia to 6-4-5 overall and 3-2-3 in the SEC, and it was the Bulldogs’ fifth straight win over Missouri. The Tigers fell to 4-9-2 and 1-6-1 in league play and host Texas A&M on Thursday.
