ATLANTA, Ga. — Two presidents, one current and one former, are set to campaign in Georgia over the next week as both parties try to squeeze more voters out of a tight midterm map before Election Day on Nov. 3.
President Donald Trump will hold a rally Saturday in Perry, in Middle Georgia, to boost Republicans on the ballot. U.S. Senate candidate Mike Collins, a congressman Trump has endorsed, is expected to join him there. Rick Jackson, the Republican nominee for governor who also has Trump’s endorsement, is not slated to appear in Perry.
The Perry stop follows a Trump rally at Dalton Municipal Airport on Friday, Oct. 16, where both Collins and Jackson spoke. At that event, Trump urged supporters to treat the midterm as if he were on the ballot himself.
Democrats are answering with former President Barack Obama, who is scheduled to headline a rally on Wednesday, Oct. 28, for Keisha Lance Bottoms, the party’s nominee for governor, and U.S. Sen. Jon Ossoff, who is seeking a second term. Obama has been choosy about where he campaigns this cycle, picking races where Democrats believe a visit can make a difference.
Former Vice President Kamala Harris is also on the calendar. She is due on Oct. 30 as the speaker at a dinner held by the Fulton County Democratic Party.
The governor’s race between Bottoms and Jackson has polled close in recent surveys. In the Senate race, a Trafalgar Group poll earlier this month showed Ossoff ahead of Collins by eight points. Trump carried Georgia by two points in 2024.
Early voting runs through Oct. 30 at sites in every county.
