ATLANTA, Ga. — Georgia Tech’s Office of Information Technology will host a campuswide FORGE AI Summit from Nov. 16 to 18, a three-day program meant to move the university community from basic AI literacy to hands-on problem solving.

The summit is designed for people across campus, not only developers. CIO Leo Howell said the school needs everyday users who understand Tech’s processes to identify where AI can change teaching, research and service, not just technical specialists.

Day one is virtual and focuses on data and AI foundations, including governance, standards and responsible-use rules. Day two is a hybrid showcase at the Global Learning Center with keynotes and examples of AI already in use on campus. Day three emphasizes building solutions and preparing teams for a FORGE Challenge.

Organizers said the November event builds on a summer pilot inside the IT office and folds in pieces of Georgia Tech’s annual Data Days programming so participants see how clean data underpins useful AI tools.

Registration opened Oct. 12. Pre-summit education modules and challenge boot camps are listed through the campus IT site for teams that want to arrive ready to prototype.

Georgia Tech has also publicized larger AI workforce investments with Emory aimed at advanced computing infrastructure and health-care research talent, a statewide pipeline theme that the summit’s skills training echoes.

University leaders frame FORGE as part of a broader push to spread AI skills across Georgia’s largest technological research university while keeping governance and safety rules visible from the first session.
