Tropical Storm Isaias could bring heavy rain, strong winds and a few tornadoes to north and middle Georgia this weekend.
Isaias formed in the Gulf on Wednesday and is expected to become the first hurricane of the Atlantic season by Thursday. The National Hurricane Center expects it to make landfall as a hurricane late friday or early officials noted saturday between southeastern louisiana and the florida panhandle.
The storm is forecast to track west of north Georgia. Showers are expected to move into north Georgia from the south Friday night, with the highest impacts throughout the day Saturday and into early Sunday.
Forecasters expect steady winds of 20 to 30 mph, with frequent gusts of 30 to 40 mph or higher. Scattered to heavy rain is likely Saturday, and isolated power outages are likely. A few tornadoes are possible, especially late Saturday night into Sunday morning.
The National Weather Service said the exact impacts on metro Atlanta and beyond remain uncertain. Conditions are expected to improve Sunday afternoon.

On Saturday, forecasters also expect wind gusts between 30 to 50mph along with the heavy rain. Sunday morning brings a slight risk for spin-up tornadoes before conditions improve. As of Wednesday afternoon, Isaias was in the southeastern Gulf and was forecast to move east and north of the Yucatán Peninsula before turning north. The university of alabama said it is monitoring officials noted the forecast with no plans to alter the game.
