The University of North Alabama beach volleyball team is gearing up for their final regular season road trip, set for the GSU Diggin’ Duals Invite in Atlanta on April 11-12, 2025. They’ll compete against top teams, including No. 18 Georgia State, Louisiana-Monroe, and EKU. Currently on a five-match winning streak, the Lions are looking to maintain their momentum as they prepare for the postseason. The excitement is building as the University of North Alabama beach volleyball team packs its bags for one last road trip in the regular season! The team is headed to Atlanta for the much-anticipated GSU Diggin’ Duals Invite, taking place from April 11-12, 2025. After numerous away matches, this event will wrap up their traveling schedule before they gear up for the postseason.
North Alabama will hit the sand against some tough competition. They are set to face off against No. 18 Georgia State, along with Louisiana-Monroe and EKU. Kicking things off, the Lions will take on Georgia State on Friday, April 11, at 9:45 a.m. Make sure to mark your calendars for this exciting opener!
But that’s not all! Later that same day, at 4 p.m., North Alabama will take on EKU. The action continues the following day, Saturday, April 12, where the Lions will meet Louisiana-Monroe at 9:45 a.m. Last but not least, they’ll return to face Georgia State in a rematch at 4 p.m. It’s safe to say the team has a busy yet thrilling weekend ahead!
Fans who can’t make it to the matches in person will still be in the loop. Right now, the Lions are riding high with a five-match winning streak and an overall record of 14-10, including a solid 6-4 during ASUN play. They recently showcased their skills at the ASUN North Invitational, where they delivered an impressive 4-0 weekend performance!
Leading the charge is senior Katy Floyd, who recently became the all-time wins leader in program history with 84 victories. Alongside her partner, Selma Robinson, they boast a strong 18-5 record in the top flight. Other standout pairs include Kaitlyn Holbrook and Hailey Benesz with a fantastic 15-3 record, Aurora Bibolotti and Paige Griner at 12-6, and Ryenne Gepford teaming up with Pien Grooters for a record of 10-9.
As the Lions head to Atlanta, their opponents are also looking to make a mark. Georgia State currently holds a 12-13 overall record and an impressive 6-0 in conference play within the Sun Belt. They recently turned heads by going 4-0 at the conference midseason invitational.
EKU is another foe in the mix, holding an 11-10 record, but North Alabama has the upper hand, boasting an 8-0 all-time series lead against them. Then there’s Louisiana-Monroe, who are sitting at 12-12, and have had wins against New Orleans and Nicholls. North Alabama has previously faced them with a 2-1 series lead.
