Atlanta, Georgia – Chase Elliott’s “DESI9N TO DRIVE” Program Shines a Light on Pediatric Cancer

The Chase Elliott Foundation is set to launch the ninth year of its “DESI9N TO DRIVE” program, collaborating with NAPA and Hendrick Motorsports to raise funds and awareness for pediatric oncology. This initiative, which benefits Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, has successfully raised nearly half a million dollars since its inception in 2017.

Upcoming NASCAR Race Features Young Artist’s Design

During the NASCAR Cup Series race scheduled for June 28 at the Atlanta Motor Speedway, Elliott’s iconic No. 9 car and race uniform will proudly display the artwork created by Rhealynn Mills, an 11-year-old cancer patient. Mills, who was diagnosed with Metastatic Osteosarcoma in October 2022, designed the artwork to reflect her aspirations of becoming a nurse, incorporating symbols of hope and resilience.

Rhealynn’s design showcases elements significant to the fight against cancer, including references to pediatric oncology, gold childhood cancer ribbons, a stethoscope, heart monitors, and bandages. To inspire others, the artwork features motivating phrases such as “Cure Cancer” and “Helping Kids Like Me,” along with the Bible verse Psalm 46:5, which reads: “God is within you, you will not fail.”

Fan Engagement Through Sweepstakes

As a part of the program, fans can engage in an online sweepstakes starting June 11 and running until July 9. Participants will have a chance to win a piece of Elliott’s race-worn uniform, or a VIP meet-and-greet experience with him. Proceeds from the sweepstakes will directly support the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, reinforcing the program’s dedication to pediatric cancer care.

Challenges Faced by Young Artist

Rhealynn’s journey has not been an easy one. After initially experiencing pain from what she thought was a softball injury, she was diagnosed with cancer, leading to the amputation of her right leg. Since her diagnosis, she has undergone nineteen surgeries and is currently adjusting to life with a prosthetic leg, embodying courage and strength in the face of adversity.
