Atlanta – Atlanta United has signed defender Tomás Jacob from Club Necaxa to a long-term contract that runs through the 2028-29 season, with options extending into the 2030-31 season. The signing, made official on December 30, 2025, comes as Atlanta looks to bolster its roster for the upcoming season.

His versatile playing style is expected to enhance the team’s defensive capabilities, according to Atlanta United’s Chief Soccer Officer and Sporting Director, Chris Henderson.

Throughout his career, Jacob has made a total of 67 career first division appearances across leagues in Argentina and Mexico. He initiated his professional journey at the Newell’s Old Boys academy, making his first division debut on October 31, 2021, in a match against Independiente.

During the 2022 season, Jacob contributed to his team with 14 league appearances and recorded his first career assist on August 27 against Godoy Cruz. His participation in the following seasons included 13 first division matches in both 2024 and 2025, where he proved adaptable by playing various positions such as right back, center back, and central midfielder.

On July 15, 2025, he transferred to Liga MX’s Club Necaxa and debuted three days later in a match against Querétaro. In his league appearances during the 2025 Apertura season, he started in 12 out of 14 matches and scored his first professional goal on September 26 against Atlas.
