Atlanta is set to host a variety of summer sports events, including collegiate football, Major League Baseball, professional basketball, and international soccer. Notable events include the Aflac Kickoff Game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, multiple Atlanta Braves promotions, games from the Atlanta Dream, and Atlanta United FC matches. The summer sports season also features the MEAC-SWAC Challenge and the PGA Tour’s TOUR Championship. Atlanta is gearing up for a plethora of exciting summer sports events in 2024, appealing to both local fans and visitors alike. The lineup includes collegiate football, Major League Baseball, professional basketball, and international soccer, along with various community events that promise to keep the spirit of sports alive throughout the season.
The summer sports calendar will kick off with the Aflac Kickoff Game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on August 31, featuring a highly anticipated match between the University of Georgia and Clemson University, occurring on Labor Day Weekend. This annual college football contest is a popular event, showcasing top-tier teams and attracting a large audience in Atlanta.
The Atlanta Braves will host numerous summer events at Truist Park at The Battery, commencing with the Braves Country 5K on June 1. Registration for this event will close on May 31. Additionally, young fans have something to look forward to, as the first 3,000 children through the gates on June 2 will each receive a pair of stylish sunglasses.
In June, from the 14th to the 16th, the Braves will present Play Ball Weekend, which aims to inspire young baseball players. This will be followed by a belt bag giveaway on June 17 and Pride Night on June 18, featuring a pregame party and a free T-shirt, with proceeds supporting the OUT Georgia Impact Fund.
Promotions continuing throughout June and July include Georgia Tribe Night on June 29, Michael Harris II Bobblehead Night on July 3, Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians Night on July 20, and Orlando Arcia Chain Night on July 23. The series of special promotions culminates with Ronald Acuña Jr. Bobblehead Night on August 1, along with HBCU Night on July 22.
The Atlanta Dream will also see action at Gateway Arena Center, with season tickets starting at just $20 per game. Key matchups in their summer home schedule include games against the Las Vegas Aces on May 31 and July 12, as well as matches against the New York Liberty on June 23 and June 30, along with a game against the Indiana Fever on June 21.
In another athletic spectacle, the Atlanta Roller Derby is marking its 20th season at the Woodruff Athletic Complex. Game Days are set to include Pride Night on June 8, followed by bouts scheduled for July 27 and August 24. Spectators can purchase tickets at prices ranging from $18 in advance to $20 on the day, with doubleheader tickets available for $30 in advance and $35 for same-day purchases.
At Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta United FC will host a series of special events, including Pride Night on June 2, Father’s Day matches on June 15 and June 29, and discounted tickets for First Responders on July 17, culminating with Military Appreciation Night on July 20. Additionally, a major matchup between Chelsea F.C. and Club América is set for July 31, along with Atlanta hosting the opening match of Copa América 2024 on June 20.
Tickets are currently on sale for the MEAC-SWAC Challenge on August 24 at Center Parc Stadium, featuring a game between Norfolk State and Florida A&M. Pre-game events will include a High School Seminar on August 22, an ESPN Welcome Reception on August 23, and the Coca-Cola Fan Experience on August 24 from 3 PM to 6:30 PM.
On July 4, the Peachtree Road Race will celebrate its 55th edition, with the Microsoft Peachtree Junior event on July 3 being free for kids. This iconic race will also include an Elite High School division for top runners graduating from 2025 to 2027.
The summer sports season will culminate with the PGA TOUR’s TOUR Championship at East Lake Golf Club from August 28 to September 1, where the top 30 players will compete for the prestigious FedEx Cup. Daily grounds tickets are currently available, along with new hospitality options for attendees.
