Atlanta Celebrates Black Music Month with Ari Lennox

Atlanta, GA – In a celebratory nod to Black Music Month, BMI organized an exclusive mixer and discussion featuring renowned R&B singer-songwriter Ari Lennox. The intimate event took place last week at Sessions, an award-winning recording studio owned by Grammy-winning producer Tricky Stewart, who moderated the evening’s conversation.

Co-sponsored by Soho House’s Cities Without Houses, UTA, and Milk And Cookies Music Week, the mixer was designed to connect artists, producers, and music enthusiasts within the vibrant Atlanta music scene. The event saw notable attendees including singer/songwriter Kandi Burruss, producers ATL Jacob, Zaytoven, Bryan-Michael Cox, The-Dream, and K Camp.

Ari Lennox utilized this opportunity to share insights into her creative process as well as personal anecdotes about her career trajectory, emphasizing her strong ties to the Atlanta music community. During the mixer, she participated in a segment moderated by Byron Wright from BMI titled “How I Wrote That Song,” where she discussed her popular tracks “Shea Butter Baby” and “Pressure.” Music for the gathering was provided by the band Thrice Groove, while cocktails were specially curated by Grey Goose.

Highlighting her busy schedule, Lennox announced plans for a halftime performance at the Atlanta Dream’s Home Opener against the Indiana Fever. This match is scheduled to take place at State Farm Arena, which was relocated due to high ticket demand. The game is set to tip off at 7:30 p.m., and the Dream is expected to have limited ticket availability, following their previous victory over the Indiana Fever, where they won 77-58.

In addition to her performance announcement, Ari Lennox has recently made waves in the music world with her new single “Soft Girl Era,” released after her departure from Dreamville Records. Fans can also anticipate her upcoming single “Smoke,” which is expected to drop on October 18.

While focusing on her music career, Lennox has decided to take a step back from social media, citing mental health concerns as the primary reason for her choice. She plans to permanently delete her social media accounts on December 18, coinciding with her sobriety anniversary. Lennox has expressed confidence in her decision, indicating that she is untroubled by the potential loss of brand deals or impacts on music sales in the wake of her social media withdrawal.

As the celebration of Black Music Month continues in Atlanta, the mixer with Ari Lennox served as a reminder of the powerful connections and creative innovation stemming from the city’s music scene. The event not only honored the legacy of black musicians but also provided a platform for emerging artists to share their stories and connect with industry leaders.
