Atlanta, GA – Mary Cynthia (“Cindy”) Flanary Rogers, 78, passed away on July 10, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love and service in her community. Cindy was born in Oak Ridge, TN, to parents James and Christine Flanary and grew up in the West Hills neighborhood of Knoxville, TN. Funeral services will be held on July 24, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at the Rogers-Bell cemetery in Johns Creek, GA, with a reception to follow at the Capital City Club in Brookhaven.
Cindy was a graduate of The Webb School of Knoxville and later attended the University of Tennessee. Professionally, she worked as a dental hygienist and a clerical secretary before becoming a successful owner and dealer of River Oak Antiques. Her career was marked by both creativity and professionalism, reflecting her diverse interests.
In 1976, Cindy met Ronald W. Rogers (“Ronny”) at the First United Methodist Church of Atlanta, where she was working as the church secretary. The couple married nearly two decades later on December 3, 1995, in a simple and heartfelt ceremony. They spent 30 years living in Atlanta’s Buckhead neighborhood, becoming active members of the Peachtree Road United Methodist Church and the Piedmont Driving Club.
Cindy was not only a dedicated wife but also a devoted mother and grandmother, affectionately known as “Cici.” She had a strong passion for gardening, interior decorating and renovations, antiques, and hosting family gatherings. Her love for books was evident through her active participation in book clubs, and she frequently enjoyed traveling with loved ones. Animals held a special place in her heart, as she was known to have family pets throughout her life.
The Rogers family made lasting memories at their 1830s Rogers Family Farm in Johns Creek, GA, where they often spent leisurely days together. Cindy’s selfless nature was reflected in her generosity and compassion, as she was always looking to beautify her surroundings and uplift those around her.
She is survived by her husband Ronald, her two sons, Dr. Joshua B. DiCarlo and wife Molly, along with Dr. James Bradley DiCarlo, and her four beloved grandchildren: Suzanna and John DiCarlo of Colorado and Isabella and Zachary DiCarlo of Virginia. She is also remembered by her brothers, Dr. Russell Flanary and his wife Lisa, and Terrell Flanary, all of Knoxville.
The family has expressed their gratitude for the dedicated care provided by the doctors, nurses, and staff at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital, as well as the support received from the staff at The Terraces of Peachtree Hills and the wider community. They have requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to assist animals in need.
The graveside service on July 24 will be attended by family and friends, with Dr. Laurence McCullough officiating. Following the service, individuals are invited to share their condolences, thoughts, and memories on the family’s Tribute Wall, celebrating the life and legacy of Cindy Rogers.
