PITTSBURGH, Pa. — Georgia Tech closes October under the lights at Acrisure Stadium, where the Yellow Jackets meet Pitt at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in an ACC game with a national TV audience.

Both teams arrive needing a win. Tech is 2-5 overall and 1-3 in league play after dropping its last two games and three of its last four. Pitt opened 5-0 but has lost three straight and sits at 5-3, 2-3 in the ACC. A Panthers win would make them bowl eligible.

The Jackets are coming off a home defeat to Boston College, 49-27, in which an injury-thinned defense, missing eight players who had started at some point this fall, gave up 399 rushing yards, 278 of them after halftime. Tech has led at the break in five of seven games but is only 2-3 in those contests.

Pitt has been stingy at home, going 4-1 and holding visitors to an average of 11 points and 48 rushing yards across five games there. The Panthers rank sixth in the ACC in total offense at 444.3 yards a game and third in passing at 290.8, with 20 touchdown passes spread among 12 receivers.

History favors the home side. Pitt leads the series 12-6 and has won five of the last six, including a 42-28 victory in Atlanta last season over a Tech team then ranked 15th. Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi is 7-2 against Georgia Tech. The Jackets have good memories of the building, though: their last trip there in 2022 ended in a 26-21 upset of the 24th-ranked Panthers in Brent Key first game in charge as interim coach.

The teams played every year as Coastal Division rivals from 2013 through 2022, and this is only their second meeting since the ACC scrapped divisions in 2023.
