ATLANTA, Ga. — Georgia Tech starts the back half of its schedule Saturday with a homecoming date against Boston College at Bobby Dodd Stadium at Hyundai Field, and the margin for error is already thin.

The Yellow Jackets sit at 2-4 overall and 1-2 in the ACC. To reach a bowl for a fourth year in a row, they have to win four of the six games left. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. on ACC Network, and Tech is chasing its fifth homecoming win in a row.

Last week at Virginia Tech showed both sides of this team. Two first-half turnovers dug a 24-3 hole at the break, and the Jackets lost 34-24. Yet they piled up 428 yards to the Hokies 409, averaged 7.3 yards a snap, and junior quarterback Alberto Mendoza threw for a career-best 335 yards. Mendoza has hit 71 percent of his throws this fall for 1,528 yards and nine scores.

Sophomore receiver Jordan Allen has caught 10 passes in each of the last two games, against Duke and Virginia Tech, which no Yellow Jacket had done before. The defense also came alive up front with five sacks in Blacksburg, almost as many as its six through the first five weeks.

Boston College comes in at 3-3, 1-2 in league play, after rallying from 12 points down to beat Pitt 27-21. The Eagles have not won away from home this year, going 0-2 on the road. Quarterback Mason McKenzie threw for 295 yards and two touchdowns in that win, and the BC defense has 11 takeaways, eight of them interceptions.

Tech owns an 8-5 edge in a series that began in 1972. The Jackets ended a three-game skid against the Eagles last November with a 36-34 win at BC.
