ATLANTA, Ga. — Georgia Tech volleyball puts a perfect home record on the line this weekend against two of the country’s best teams, starting with second-ranked Pitt at 7 p.m. Friday at McCamish Pavilion.

The Yellow Jackets are 13-5 overall and 5-2 in the Atlantic Coast Conference and have picked up votes in the latest national coaches poll. They have not lost at home all season, going 8-0, and their last home defeat came against Pitt on Nov. 29 of last year.

Tech enters on a roll after back-to-back 3-0 sweeps of Syracuse and Boston College at home last weekend. Both of those matches were sellouts, as were earlier home wins over Virginia Tech and Virginia.

Pitt brings a 17-1 record and a 7-1 mark in league play to Atlanta. The NCAA selection committee slotted the Panthers No. 2 in its midseason top 16 this week, and they sit first nationally in the RPI, a key measure for tournament seeding. Their attack, which hits .326 as a team to rank No. 2 nationally, is directed by junior setter Izzy Starck, the 2024 national freshman of the year.

The Panthers have reached three straight Final Fours, and since the start of 2021 they are tied with Nebraska for the most wins in Division I women’s volleyball with 170. Pitt head coach Dan Fisher owns an .852 career winning percentage, the best among active Division I coaches with at least five seasons.

Georgia Tech has already tested itself against elite competition this fall. The Jackets fell 3-1 at top-ranked Nebraska in September and lost a five-set match at in-state rival Georgia in Athens on Sept. 19. Both of their ACC losses also went the full five sets, at North Carolina and at Miami.

Friday doubles as the program’s alumni match, and fans will receive light-up rally towels. The weekend does not get easier for Georgia Tech, which hosts No. 7 SMU at 1:30 p.m. Sunday before road trips to Notre Dame and Louisville.
