OAKWOOD, Ga. — Dutch engineering and equipment manufacturer VDL Groep will invest an estimated $77 million over the next several years to grow its Hall County operation and add about 120 new jobs, Gov. Brian Kemp announced Tuesday.

The company will buy and expand the building it now leases at 5459 Aloha Way in Oakwood. The project adds large-milling capability and a bigger cleanroom for building semiconductor capital equipment, the machines chipmakers use on their production lines.

Hiring is set to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026, with construction expected to wrap up in 2028. Openings will include machining, welding, sheet metal fabrication, engineering, administrative support, maintenance and management roles.

The local unit, VDL Industries Gainesville, already employs about 70 people in Hall County and handles sheet metal fabrication, welding, machining and cleanroom system integration for customers in the semiconductor, food technology, mobility and infrastructure sectors.

The new investment comes roughly eight years after VDL first set up its Hall County operation, its entry point into American production.

In announcing the deal, Kemp credited the state’s business climate and workforce programs. Company leaders pointed to Georgia’s connections to the rest of the U.S. market, a world leader in high-tech and semiconductor demand.

The Georgia Department of Economic Development worked the project with the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce and Georgia Power. Chamber leaders cited workforce partnerships with Hall County and Gainesville City Schools, Lanier Technical College, Brenau University and the University of North Georgia.

Founded in 1953 and based in the Netherlands, VDL Groep employs about 14,000 people and operates in 22 countries.
