ATLANTA, Ga. — Hyundai Transys will invest nearly $560 million to expand its West Point manufacturing campus, adding a third plant and 320 new jobs aimed at hybrid-vehicle powertrains, Gov. Brian P. Kemp announced Thursday.

The company currently supports roughly 1,250 jobs at its West Point facility. The expansion at 6801 Kia Parkway will include facility upgrades to plants one and two as well as the construction of a third plant to support added production capacity for electrified powertrains for hybrid vehicles.

Kemp said the Hyundai family of brands has been an incredible partner to Georgia and that the decision by Hyundai Transys reinforces that valued friendship. He said the facility will further enhance the strength of the state automotive manufacturing ecosystem and allow Hyundai and Kia to grow their already impressive capacity here in Georgia.

Jaekyun Choi, president of Hyundai Transys Georgia Powertrain, said the company and the State of Georgia have grown together over the past two decades through capital investment, job creation and talent development. He called the project an important milestone that demonstrates Hyundai Transys firm commitment to a long-term partnership with the State of Georgia.

West Point Mayor Steve Tramell said the retention of more than 1,200 jobs and creation of over 300 new positions reflects the strength of West Point automotive industry and creates meaningful opportunity for residents. Troup County Commission Chairman Patrick Crews thanked Hyundai Transys Georgia Powertrain for continued investment and partnership in Troup County.

Georgia Department of Economic Development Commissioner Pat Wilson said over 40 years of consistent representation in Korea helped many Korean companies find a home in Georgia. Hyundai Transys will be hiring for administrative, supervisory, and production positions as the hybrid transmission manufacturing facility comes online.
